Uchenna Emenaha Miles  Ph.D.

Uchenna Emenaha is a Houston native with West African roots. She has a variety of teaching experiences having taught upper elementary school, middle school, high school, undergraduate, and graduate courses. She is currently an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at San Antonio in the College of Education & Human Development. Her research is grounded in the use of culturally responsive pedagogy (CRP), to address the intersection between social issues, science instruction, and students’ lived experiences. Specifically, her work focuses on culturally responsive curriculum & instruction dealing with issues of racial bias and the development of student’s scientific argumentation skills. At its core, her work's purpose is to produce a varied body of literature that bridges the gap between issues of equity and inequality with science instruction.  
When she is not conducting research, she enjoys writing poetry, working out, and spending time with her favorite little people, which include a niece, nephews, and two small dogs.
